This travel inspiration is preparing us for our next trip, which we get to take with some great friends, a trip to Portland. Not only are we excited to explore the northwest coast in September but also to check out another quirky, weird city similar to our home base here in Austin. This is our "must see and do" list for Portland! We were recently asked by one of our couple friends if we could swing a long weekend in Portland with them. We've never been there but we do know that Portland has unique flair. Regardless of the amount of hipsters and yogis walking around, Portland is supposedly an amazing city with wonderful people partaking in awesome food, beer, and outdoor activities. For us, it sounded a lot like Austin and we love it here, so we had to do it, especially since we'll be exploring with some close friends! When we were looking for places to stay, we knew we wanted to check out house rentals. We hit up Airbnb and found a bungalow basement apartment in the northeast neighborhood close to the light rail so we can take public transit around town. With some light research we've discovered that Portland locals love to eat! They have restaurants and food trucks constantly popping up all over town, the most microbreweries than any other city on Earth, and their coffee shops have made lists with the following headlines: "20 coffee houses to visit before you die", "15 cups of coffee to try now" and "best coffee in America". Needless to say, we are excited to get there and eat!! These places have made our "must eat and drink" list. Coffee houses 4. If time, Voodoo Donuts (or if Blue Star isn't all it's cracked up to be) Other than the food scene, Portland is said to have some great outdoor activities Walking around the city's courtyards and gardens, hiking just outside the city, and bike tours around Portland and beyond. Here are some of the more active things we're putting on our "must do" list. 1. Saturday Market - strolling through the square for local goods - many recommend walking through the shops on the river front as well
2. A bike tour - we can't decide if we want to do a day trip to the gorge just outside the city or up to wine country 3. Pioneer courthouse square - regardless of whether we go for the food trucks or not, this place is supposed to be a wonderful square to explore and people watch 4. The Japanese gardens - we're hoping the foliage will be amazing in the fall 5. Walking tours around Nob hill and the Pearl district - both of these neighborhoods have lots of sites to see and places to shop We will be in Portland for 4 days. If you have been there, lived there, want to visit - let us know your favorite spots! We're excited to explore as much as we can. Until Next Time, C + D

Love these ideas! Perhaps an airballoon ride to see the city from above? Hopefully there are plenty of public restrooms becasue it looks like we'll be drinking...a lot!
