When we started looking at the North Sea region, there was not one pre-planned trip or cruise route that we liked. We started researching prices to see if what we dreamed up in our heads was actually feasible. Read on to see what we came up with. While there are several routes in existence for the North Sea, many of the stops are in great cities but we felt there were some cities and even whole countries that were passed over. We started digging harder and eventually we did find a tour -the closest itinerary was a cruise route - that hit most of our must sees but the price was crazy!! So I scrapped everything and started pricing out flights and train tickets for the cities we actually wanted to see. It was REALLY hard not booking the flights to London after we looked everything over (a Sept ‘19 rt ticket was $497 pp... umm, what?). Rough Itinerary: Keep in mind, our round-trip flights were planned for Austin so those numbers will vary, unless you’re leaving from Austin too! Day 1 - An evening flight to London from Austin Days 2, 3 - Two full days in London Day 4 - A breakfast in London before a late morning flight to Brussels Day 5, 6 - Two full days in Brussels Day 7 - Begin the road trip portion of the trip. Antwerp is a quick 35 miles from Brussels. Spend the rest of the morning and lunch there before heading to Rotterdam, another 65 miles north. Day 8 - Grab breakfast in Rotterdam before leaving for Amsterdam (50 mile drive) Day 9, 10 - Two full days in Amsterdam Day 11 - From Amsterdam -> Bremen, Germany is 3.5 hrs away. A flight is $130 a person with about 5 hrs of travel. So driving it is! We’d get there around lunch and enjoy the rest of the day there. Day 12 - another half day in Bremen before the evening flight to Copenhagen. Day 13, 14 - two full days in Copenhagen Day 15 - early AM flight back to London. A slight layover before the afternoon flight back to Austin. A trip this long on a cruise (with several different cities) would cost around $6500 a person. And that’s not including the round trip flights to the port city. Our prices: Everything is priced for two people and all prices were generated for the middle of September, 2019 Travel (rt flights, one way flights, rental car): $1800 Accommodations: roughly $1800-2000 To match the single person price for the 15 day cruise, we’d have to spend $2500 on food, tourist tickets, and souvenirs. Many could argue that this route barely touches the North Sea but to be fair, we did a trip itinerary for Scandinavia a few years back. Some of those northern cities were included in that voyage - click here to see. This 15 day trip includes so many places we’ve dreamed of visiting. Hoping to one day put this itinerary to use! Until Next Time,
